Blue Chintz Cotton Apron
William Kilburn (1745-1818) was a creative designer with a talent for botanical drawing. Originally from Dublin, Kilburn established a successful career in London owning and managaing his own calico and muslin printing factory. The floral design featured on this kitchen textile can be found in an album of 223 watercolour drawings produced by Kilburn during the 1780's and 90's for muslin chintz. The Kilburn Album is unique and now housed at the V&A.
